Even if you don't normally need supplemental oxygen to treat your COPD, when you travel, you may.

If you have COPD and live in a region with a low-elevation, you may not need supplemental oxygen to help you breathe. However, if your disease is advanced enough and you travel to a location at a higher elevation, you may find yourself gasping for breath. At higher elevations the air is "thinner," meaning you inhale fewer oxygen molecules in every breath. Supplemental oxygen therapy may help to ensure that with every breathe, you're breathing enough oxygen.
